Originally released by author Suzanne Collins in 2020, the book-to-film adaptation delved deeper into the world of Panem and its 13 districts, following the origin story of the saga’s antagonist President Coriolanus Snow.

What is The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes?

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a prequel to the original Hunger Games trilogy. 

The book, which was released in May 2020, is set 64 years prior to the events of The Hunger GamesThe narrative follows the story of 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, known best as The Hunger Games’ antagonist President Snow, who assumes the role of mentor during the 10th Hunger Games tournament. 

After signing on as a mentor, Snow works closely with his mentee, District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird, to attempt to turn the odds of the game in his favour. As the games draw closer, Snow begins to fall in love with Lucy, causing a great moral dilemma between his heart and his political future.

Who is in the cast of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes? 

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will star Tom Blyth and West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler as Coriolanus Snow and Lucy Gray Baird. 

The film will also star Games of Thrones star Peter Dinklage as Casca Highbottom, Euphoria’s Hunter Schaffer as Tigris Snow, and The French Dispatch’s Jason Schwartzman as Lucky Flickerman. 

What’s the order of The Hunger Games?

The film adaptation of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set over 60 years before the narrative of the first The Hunger Games film.
