Starring Nicholas Galtizine and Anne Hathaway, The Idea of You is Prime Video’s latest boyband-inspired romance and if the first glimpse in the trailer is anything to go by, it’s safe to say we’re going to be obsessed.

News of the film’s production first broke in 2022 when Anne and Nicholas were photographed on-set in all their superstar couple glory and since those snaps, fans have been counting down the days until the Harry Styles-inspired romance finally hits our screens.

What is The Idea of You about?
The Idea of You follows 40-year-old single mother Solène who, on her ex-husband’s recommendation, takes her 16-year-old daughter to see the world’s biggest boyband August Moon perform at Coachella.
While her daughter may be the superfan, being the cool mum she is, Solène finds herself backstage alongside August Moon heartthrob Hayes Campbell. Returning to the crowd, Hayes and Solène seem to have already struck up a unique connection, with the pair’s newfound friendship quickly evolving into something more than strictly platonic.
With Hayes on tour, the new couple begin their whirlwind affair out of the public eye and while Solène may be caught in the romance, it isn’t without its conditions…
Is The Idea of You a book?
The Idea of You is based on a 2020 novel of the same name by author Robinne Lee.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the story, Robinne explained to Vogue that she drew inspiration for her title character Hayes from none other than Mr. Harry Styles.
While the story of Hayes and Solène is somewhat reminiscent of the One Direction star’s real-life romances, Robinne shared that The Idea of You “was never supposed to be about Harry Styles. It was supposed to be a story about a woman approaching 40 and reclaiming her sexuality and rediscovering herself.”

Who is the cast of The Idea of You?
The Idea of You is certainly packing some serious star power in its casting lineup, with Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway leading the film as single mother and art dealer Solène
Starring alongside Anne is Red, White, and Royal Blue’s Nicholas Galitzine as the leader of our new favourite fictional boy band, Hayes Campbell.
Although Hayes and Solène’s backstage romance takes centre stage in the film, The Idea of You also features an ensemble of new talent, with stars Viktor White, Ray Cham, Jordan Aaron Hall, and Jaiden Anthony joining the cast as members of Hayes’ boyband August Moon.
