The show, which has just closed its sixth season and boasted 8.1 million has caused a bit of drama for the network, with fans accusing ABC of playing politics.

The announcement has been deemed surprising as Last Man Standing came runner up to only Modern Family in the ratings for ABC programming.

Allen has had a great history with ABC given his former show Home Improvement ran from 1991-1999. However, he’s since been vocal in his criticism of Hollywood’s leftist culture and even admitted he attended President Trump’s inauguration.

Heat Street reports viewers believe Allen’s refusal to remain silent about politics in heavily Democratic Hollywood led ABC to cancel his show despite it’s popularity.

In the past, Allen revealed he has received negative feedback from network executives about his character going too far, such as calling President Obama a communist.

“I do push the button a little bit too hard sometimes,” he acknowledged.
