He’s the Australian heartthrob who made a splash on Netflix’s hit dating show Too Hot to Handle, and now fans can’t get enough of Harry Jowsey.
But the 22-year-old reveals he’s done with reality TV and is determined to move on to more serious business ventures – not to mention love!
“I’m not an influencer, and I definitely wouldn’t call myself a celebrity,” Jowsey tells WHO. “I think within five years I’d like to be hosting my own show. I would love to be an Ellen [DeGeneres] – if I could have a show like that I’d feel very blessed.”
Currently isolating in his Los Angeles apartment, Jowsey (who’s from the small coastal town of Yeppoon in Queensland) opens up about life post THTH.
How’s everything going for you at the moment?
It’s quite crazy right now with the pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement. It’s a pretty wild part of history to be a part of, but everything’s good on my end. I’ve been a part of three peaceful protests but there’s been mass looting and violence, which has been terrifying. Going down Melrose Avenue and seeing all the stores that have been completely demolished – it’s heartbreaking, but I’m very thankful that I’m safe.
Have you been in LA throughout the entire pandemic lockdown?
I was thinking about coming home back to Australia, but I just couldn’t risk getting my mum or my brother sick if I contracted COVID-19. He’s got type 1 diabetes, so I didn’t want to jeopardise their lives just so I could get back to Australia.
You and Francesca Farago got together on the show. How long has it been since you’ve seen each other?
I saw her once for a couple of days, which was really nice. She came down here and stayed with me while in town for her bikini brand. Apart from that we haven’t been able to see each other at all. It’s been really difficult.
How has your life changed since appearing on THTH?
It was the No. 1 show on the entire planet so it’s kind of nuts to know that there were so many eyes watching. I think the only time it ever hit home for Mum was when I was in the local paper. She thought that was amazing!
What did your family think of you being on the show?
I told my mum about everything that happened, and she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter – so she was well prepared!
How did you cope with all the rules, like not being allowed to kiss?
I think the rules were put in place for a good reason and I genuinely think they’ve helped me change my perspective on relationships and how I approach them.
Fans went crazy when you proposed to Francesca on Zoom with a lollipop ring – can we expect an in-person proposal soon?
I definitely want to do it properly, but I want to live with Francesca first. This whole relationship has been rushed and pressured, but we’ve both got a shared ring album on our phones. I just need to find the right time when there aren’t millions of people watching us.
So will you guys settle down together?
I definitely can see myself having children with her and everything like that.
Speaking of kids, fans went into a frenzy when you captioned an image, ‘Mum and Dad’ on Instagram. What happened there?!
All my friends call us Mum and Dad, so I made that caption jokingly and the next thing you know there’s articles saying I’m hinting at pregnancy rumours!
