Summer Heights High legend Chris Lilley is back to what he does best: playing a series of oddball characters plagued by annoying catch phrases and bizarre personality quirks – and annoying haters everywhere. Except now he’s doing it on Netflix.

The star, whose recent output, including J’amie: Private School Girl and Jonah from Tonga, didn’t have the stratospheric reaction of his earlier hits, definitely appears to be back on form with a bunch of totally fresh characters in Lunatics – with Netflix dropping the hilarious trailer this morning.

Again framed as a documentary, the show covers the lives of ‘six extraordinary individuals and explores the idea that people are not what they seem at first’. And we’re excited to see they’re nothing like what we’ve seen from him before.

Among the cast of characters are Keith, ‘a fashion retail veteran’, Becky, an extraordinarily tall university student, Gavin, a ‘confronting young boy’ and future Earl of an English country estate, Jana, a lesbian Pet Psychic to the Stars, and Quentin, an incompetent real estate agent with a large bottom.

But best of all, we have Joyce, ‘an eccentric elderly ex porn star and hoarder’.

We can’t wait! Lunatics launches April 19 on Netflix.
