Kath & Kim is undoubtedly one of the most iconic series in Australian TV history and with talks of a revival in the near future, fans are talking a Kel Knight-inspired power walk down memory lane to relive the show’s glory days.

Created by Gina Riley (Kim) and Jane Turner (Kath), the show aired from 2002 – 2007 and was one of the most-watched shows of the era, even nabbing three TV WEEK Logie Awards before the final episode aired in 2009.

It defined a generation and had such a massive cultural impact that people still use iconic lines from the show today – think “savvy b” and “look at moi”.

TV WEEK caught up with Magda Szubanski (Sharon Strzelecki) on the TV WEEK Logie Awards red carpet in June and it’s safe to say she’s still in love with the world of Kath and Kim more than 10 years after the show wrapped.

“I first created that character in 1995, might have been 1994 even, and to think that Sharon still [resonatess] it’s a beautiful thing,” she said.

“You always hope that might happen, but longevity is… you can never know. I’m absolutely thrilled and very moved actually.”

And when asked if she knew anything about a revival, she played coy: “If I did I couldn’t possibly tell you. If I did, I’d have to kill you and your publishers and everyone else. It would be a blood bath!”

With talk of the cast coming together for some kind of reunion, it begs with question; what are they all up to today?

Kim Craig: Gina Riley

Kimmy, look at moi! After making herself a household name in Kath & Kim, Gina made a few appearances in mini-series The Beautiful Lie and How To Life before deciding to step away from the spotlight. But that didn’t stop fans from noticing that she started to resemble a different character from the show in the 2020s, when she embraced her natural grey hair.

“Gina Riley is now rocking the grey/silver hair better than Trude,” one fan commented on a photo shared by Gina’s daughter Maggie McKenna, comparing the star to Kath & Kim characters Prude and Trude.

Kath Day-Knight: Jane Turner

She was iconic for smoking ciggies out the kitchen window wearing rubber gloves, so where is this foxy lady now? After starring as Kath, Jane went on to appear in a number of big-name local shows like Open Slather (alongside co-stars Gina and Magda), Rake and most recently Parlement.

A source told Woman’s Day that even 20 years after the first episode of Kath & Kim aired, jane still spends plenty of time with the cast. “They still love catching up and talking about the skits they would do if they could still get away with them,” they said.

Sharon Strzeleki: Magda Szubanski

Who didn’t love sports-obsessed and unlucky in love Sharon? Even Magda still adores the character more than 20 years after creating her, admitting she never realised how mcuh “longevity” the character would have in Aussie culture.

As for the actress, she’s gone on to appear in a number of series including SistersMy Life Is Murder and notably Neighbours and is now a vocal LGBTQIA+ advocate after coming out in 2012.

Kel Knight: Glenn Robbins

He swept Kath off her feet as foxy butcher Kel, but in the real world Glenn has been hard at work acting since the show wrapped. He starred in True Story with Hamish & Andy and Upper Middle Bogan before reprising one of his most iconic roles in 2018 – but it wasn’t as Kel.

Glenn is also famous for his portrayal of bush buffoon Russell Coight from Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures, which originally ran at the same time as Kath & Kim. The show wrapped in 2004 but was brought back for a modern revival in 2018, much to the delight of fans.

Brett Craig: Peter Rowsthorn

Poor Brett. His hair may be gone, but Peter’s still hilarious and has been making Aussies laugh long after his time on Kath & Kim ended. In the years since he’s taken roles in several small-scale shows, theatre productions and movies and even landed a gig in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
