Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson has sparked reunion rumours after sharing a photo on set, teasing fans with the caption “haven’t seen this view in a while.”

The actor, who played Mitchell Pritchell in the long-running sitcom, further fuelled fan theories after also posting a video of himself alongside his on-screen daughter Lily, played by Aubrey Anderson-Emmons.

Eric Stonestreet, who played Mitchell’s husband Cameron Tucker also shared a photo alongside the same caption.

At this stage the trio have refrained from commenting on whether a reunion is actually happening – but other cast members have also been publically hinting at the future of Modern Family, which came to an end in 2020.

“I don’t like to do that stuff,” Ed O’Neill who plays Jay Pritchett recently told TV Insider about reunions, before admitting he would make an exception for Modern Family.

“I mean, I am open to it. I like everybody involved, so I wouldn’t be the guy who [says no if everyone else wants to]. I wouldn’t do that,” he explained.

“I would do it in a second,” confirmed Sofía Vergara, telling The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter Podcast that she was hopeful for another run at playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett.

The cast of Modern Family also sparked reunion rumours in November 2023, when they had their very own family reunion! The stars of the hit TV show took to Instagram to share photos of the get-together, which included almost the full cast.

“Nearly perfect @modernfamily reunion,” Jesse Tyler captioned his set of photos from the night.

The photos saw the likes of Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Eric Stonestreet, Nolan Gould, Ed O’Neil, Sofia Vergara, Ariel Winter, Rico Rodriguez and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons reunite.

Fans were quick to call out Ty Burell, who played Phil Dunphey’s, absence – and although no reason was given as to why he couldn’t make it, the rest of the cast clearly missed him, instead posing with a framed photograph of the actor.

Eric, who played Cam on the show shared a little bit more insight into the framed picture of Phil in his own caption explaining; “for 11 years we would take family pictures for Modern Family and without missing one ever, I would always say, ‘now let’s do one without Ty.’ Last night Ty couldn’t make it to our little impromptu reunion, so I had to bring his favourite picture of Phil so we could ‘do one without Ty.”

“I can see how this looks but Ty is alive and well I PROMISE😂❤️,” added Ariel. “He’ll definitely be there for the next one 😉🎉”

Modern Family drew to an end in 2020 after 11 seasons. The show follows three modern-day families who are interrelated through their patriarch as they deal with their kids, quirky spouses and jobs in their own unique ways.

Not only was the long-running comedy a hit with fans, but it earned a number of awards throughout its run. The show was awarded the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for five years running.

Both Eric and Ty won Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series twice, whilst Julie Bowen also won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series twice.

The show won a total of 22 Emmy awards from 75 nominations and also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2011.
