With the new year kicking off, we’re excited to be getting to back to some of our favourite reality TV shows!
The eighth season (if you can believe it!) of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! will be back on our screens from January 3, and we’re keen to dive deep into the brand-new cast, who have been kept secret from us.
While Chris Brown and Julia Morris will be returning to host, we’ve only been given clues as to who might be hanging out in the jungle this year, competing in challenges in order to win big bucks for a chosen charity.
Last year we saw Abbie Chatfield take out the forest-themed crown, winning $100,000 for Dementia Australia in honour of her grandmother, whom she lost last year.
But where does all of this take place?
In a pre-COVID world, the Australian version of the show was filmed in South Africa, while the British version often came over here to film their series.
However, with border closures throwing a lot of the industry into disarray, I’m a Celebrity had to switch to filming here, and chose the small coastal town of Murwillumbah, right on the border of New South Wales and Queensland, where British seasons of the show had already been filmed.
Reports have found they’re filming in Murwillumbah again this year. And, although the jungle is a little more local this time around, we’re sure our new round of celebs won’t be cut any slack when it comes to creature comforts.
As for what else we know about this season – there’s still not much to go on!
The strongest rumour is that the promised ‘multi-hyphenate’ contestant will be Beau Ryan, who is a sports star, singer, comedian and TV host. He was spotted near Murwillumbah around the time of filming as well, so fans are waiting to see if they’ve guessed correctly.
Channel 10 has also been dropping a lot of clues, and we’ve been able to gather that we can expect an Olympian, a country singer, an AFL player, a celebrity chef, and an international reality TV star, which is pretty standard for the series.
Over the years we’ve seen the likes of Charlotte Crosby, Vicky Pattison and Paul Burrell join the ranks for the Aussie seasons, so we’re excited to see who drops into the jungle in a few weeks’ time.
I’m a Celebrity … Gert Me Out of Here! Australia premieres Jan 3, 2022, on 10.
