Speaking at Amazon’s 2024 upfronts, Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon MGM Studios, revealed that the second season will be “filled with unforgettable journeys and new adventures.”

The series has a very different tone from the original blockbuster, which centres around two spies who get married without knowing that they share the same line of work – and an assignment to kill each other.
In the 2024 Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the story follows two strangers, John and Jane, who have given up their identities to be thrown together as partners – in espionage and marriage.
Matched by a mysterious agency, each episode follows them on a new mission and new milestone in their relationship. When the cracks begin to show through, they must fight to stay together because, in this marriage, divorce is not an option.
While the storyline of season two is still unknown, following a high-action series finale, we can anticipate that season two of Mr. & Mrs. Smith will finally provide fans with an answer to the season one cliffhanger.
Who is the cast of Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season Two?
Donald Glover (Swarm, Atlanta) and Maya Erskine (PEN15) starred together in season one of the new series as John and Jane Smith, respectively.
While fans may have fallen in love with their portrayal of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s iconic characters, it has been rumoured that the duo may not be back to reprise their roles for season two, with sources telling Variety that the pair are “not expected to return.”
News of a second series also comes just days after Donald announced he would be returning to music under his stage name Childish Gambino for his 2025 World Tour. While news of new music may be exciting for fans, many have also highlighted that the February 2025 tour would be likely to impact his ability to partake in Mr. & Mrs. Smith season two.
Despite details of the cast of season two remaining largely under wraps, it has been reported that Donald will still be part of the reimagined series as Executive Producer alongside showrunner Francesca Sloane (Atlanta, Fargo).
