Here’s why Will Smith won’t be starring in ‘Suicide Squad 2’

RIP, Deadshot.

Bittersweet news for Suicide Squad fans.

While filming for the second instalment begins in Autumn, Will Smith will not be reprising his role as Deadshot.

According to the Variety, his absence boils down to scheduling conflicts, with sources assuring the publication there is no bad blood between the actor and Warner Bros. It makes perfect sense considering he is currently filming the Bad Boys reboot and will also star in Disney’s live-action film, Aladdin.

Smith’s departure comes after the 51-year-old announced his new reality TV series on Facebook Watch. It appears he’s following in his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s footsteps who also has her own Facebook series titled, Red Table Talk.

While the cast of Suicide Squad 2 is yet to be officially announced, rumours are circulating that Margot Robbie will return to take on the role of Harley Quin, while Jared Leto will once again appear as the Joker. Viola Davis is also said to be reprising her role as the government official who puts together the feisty squad.

The new film is being helmed by Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn who was infamously fired from his Marvel Studios position after nasty tweets joking about rape and paedophilia resurfaced online.

The first blockbuster hit reeled in an eye-watering $746.8 million worldwide.
