Don’t Worry Darling is one of the most hotly anticipated films of the year, with its stellar cast and tantalizing trailer. However, the rumours surrounding the film are also what makes it so enticing.
Rumours of a feud between lead actress Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde have been permeating the internet, creating buzz around the September release.
And now, Florence Pugh has made her annoyances clear in a chat with Harpers Bazaar.
While it seems she is proud of her work on Don’t Worry Darling, she’s completely unmoved by the star status of her co-star, Harry Styles, who plays her husband in the film.
“When it’s reduced to your sex scenes, or to watch the most famous man in the world go down on someone, it’s not why we do it. It’s not why I’m in this industry,” Florence told the magazine affirmatively, perhaps explaining why she has been hesitant to promote the film across her social media.
“Obviously, the nature of hiring the most famous pop star in the world, you’re going to have conversations like that.
“That’s just not what I’m going to be discussing because [this movie is] bigger and better than that. And the people who made it are bigger and better than that,” she added.
Olivia and Harry were noticeably absent from her comments about the film, with interviewer Andrea Cutler making note instead of Florence’s reverence for the crew and the Covid nurses who attended the set.
“If I shout about one thing, it’s that these people made that movie happen. They came to work every day on time and fully respected the process.”
The comments seem pointed given the nature of the gossip surrounding Don’t Worry Darling.
Rumours took off when it seemed Olivia had been actively promoting the film across her social media, while Florence had gone quiet on it – choosing instead to promote her other upcoming projects.
And while Olivia was singing Florence’s praises for her upcoming performance, TikTok sleuths noticed that not only was Florence not addressing the compliments, but she also didn’t even follow Olivia on social media.
We all know by now that rumours of celebrity rifts are mostly fueled by what one doesn’t post to Instagram, but still, blind items and gossip led to an abundance of theories as to what had happened on the set.

Based on her comments, it’s seeming likely that Florence’s issue with the film can be linked to the theory that she was annoyed with Olivia’s lack of professionalism.
Olivia began dating Harry Styles during production. In fact, when production began, she was still engaged to ex-partner Jason Sudeikis, so the couple were likely deep in the honeymoon phase while filming progressed.
Some sources have claimed that Florence stepped in to help out with directing and production while Olivia was distracted by Harry. So, her gratitude for the crew and the Covid-10 team seem pretty understandable if this is indeed the case.
While none of these rumours have been confirmed, fans will be keeping a close eye on Florence and Olivia as more press and promotion come up for the film, which drops on September 23, 2022.
