The 44-year-old mum-of-one made the admission on this morning’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, explaining that she is watching what she eats, exercising regularly and drinking less-calorific alcohol.
The radio star told listeners she used to drink a “couple” of vodkas mixed with Solo lemonade each night, but now opts for vodka with still water and lime.
“That’s me having two big drinks of Solo every night, no wonder I’ve been putting on weight [recently],” she added.
“Why don’t you just stop drinking?” asked co-host, Kyle.
Jackie replied: “I like to have a drink. I’m not giving up everything. Jesus, I’ve got to have something in my life.”
Jackie has been extra sensitive about her weight in the past after admitting a doctor once told her she was ‘borderline obese’.
Now, The Masked Singer star has decided to lose weight after the KIIS FM team went to the beach over the weekend and she felt left out.
‘”t was really depressing. I didn’t want to be that girl and they’ve all got great bikini bodies. I saw them on Instagram and they’re all looking so good,’”she said.
“And I thought, ‘I wish I was doing that, I wish I had a bikini body. Why is my life being held back just because I don’t want to get out in my bikini?’
“I wish I was one of those women who just embrace it and get out there.”
In 2018, Jackie was heavily criticised after she lost 10kgs, explaining that her daily diet consisted of skipping breakfast, a single avocado for lunch and a low-calorie meal for dinner.
Her on-air admission prompted eating disorder charity The Butterfly Foundation to compare her eating habits to ‘starvation’.
“What I should have clarified is that while I’m doing that [strict diet] on some days, I don’t eat that every single day,” Jackie later admitted.
‘”f we want pizza, I’ll have pizza. If we, you know, want to go out for phở, I’ll eat that… If I wake up and I’m hungry, I have toast.
“I don’t stick to that [day on a plate] religiously. But, do you know what? When I do eat an avocado for lunch, I feel good! It makes me feel good.”
