Kylie Minogue has opened up about her relationship with Michael Hutchence, sharing intimate moments and rare behind-the-scenes footage of their romance.

The 51-year-old singer revealed personal details of her passionate relationship with Michael, who she dated between 1989 and 1991, in a new documentary about the INXS frontman’s life. 

Kylie told of how the pair hit it off on their first date – despite Michael turning up late.

“I’m in Hong Kong with my manager, my mother, my hairdresser and about six dancers – the time passes and there’s no sign of him!” she said in a segment of Mystify, which was aired by A Current Affair

When the star finally turned up, Kylie reveals there was a spark straight away. 

“Eventually he rocks up so we do go out and there was something between us – a frisson,” she said.

Kylie also revealed how their romance started with faxes to each other’s hotels.

They used made up names – she was ‘Gabby Jones’ and he went by ‘Swordfish’ – so no one would know.

“[It] felt loving, yet sad, but was probably doomed,” the Pop Princess said of their romance in the documentary.

Kylie opened up her private archives, and allowed film makers to use her personal home movies in the documentary.

At one point, Kylie reveals the rock star said he wanted to end their relationship, but she said that it wasn’t her who took the break-up the worst.  

She told how Michael flew her from Japan to New York in 1991 to tell he wanted to break up with her.

“[Michael was] on the floor, on all fours, crying,” Kylie said.

Michael Hutchence, who died as a result of suicide in 1997, when he was 37, was know for is wild partying.

“If you’re a sensual being, all of your senses need stimulation,” Kylie said in the doco.

“A lot of it was based around pleasure…let’s face it.”
