How To Apply Blush To Suit Your Face Shape

Paint your cheeks using the clever alphabet trick

We’re always on the hunt for new ways to do our makeup, which products the celebs are loving and the formulas makeup artists swear by.

So when a blush hack is taking over our social media platforms, we’re ready to try it.

The latest ‘ABCs of blush’ trend is all about using the letters of the alphabet to apply blush, focusing on different placements and recreating shapes to suit different face shapes.

Intrigued? So are we!

Keep scrolling as we explore the alphabet blush trend further.

Letter: W

Best suited for: heart shaped faces

The ‘W’ method is all about generously sweeping blush across the nose and cheeks to create a sun-kissed glow (minus the sun).

Start by swiping it across your face in a W shape, starting from one temple, across your cheeks, over your nose and all the way to your other temple.

Blend using either your fingers, beauty blender or brush and voila!

Note that stick blushes work best for this technique, particularly in subtle pinks and coral shades.

Letter: O

Best suited for: round faces

This blush hack helps make your cheeks look fuller and more rounded, which is particularly great for those with oval and round shape faces.

Start by applying a dot of cream blush in a circle shape around the centre of your cheeks and then blend in a circular motion.

The higher you draw your circle, the more defined your features will be.

Letter: L

Best suited for: oval faces

Calling all powder blush lovers, this one’s for you.

Begin by making an L shape with your hand, holding it over your face with your thumb just joining up to your nose and your forefinger touching your hairline.

Go in with an angled brush and fill in the space, blending as you go to ensure your blush looks seamless.

Letter: C

Best suited for: diamond shaped faces

Skip the contour and try the C shape!

This technique is all about sculpting and lifting features.

To mimic the C shape, apply blush in a curved shape on both sides from your brows all the way to your cheekbones before blending in.

A liquid blush would work best for this shape, and will give you a summery glow once fully blended in.
