WHO’s Beauty Editor Tried Neutrogena Hydro Boost – Here Are Her Thoughts

Elise trialled, so you can reap the glowing rewards…

As a beauty editor, I am so lucky to try lots of amazing products – from the best luxury buys on the market to the most buzz-worthy cult pharmacy finds. Many have big claims and promises and it’s my (very important) job to see if they deliver.

So, when I was asked to review the Neutrogena Hydro Boost range, including the Water Gel that claims to deliver five times more hydration to the skin and has a score of 97% in its visible results consumer survey, I was up for the challenge. Here are my honest thoughts…

See, Look and Feel…

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Niacinamide Serum is a new product for the brand, and it’s my first time trying it. It slips on like a dream, and honestly less is more with this one as it spreads so easily.

The Hydro Boost Water Gel smells fresh and cool to touch when you first apply, but the bouncy consistency glides onto the skin before it sinks in within about 30 seconds of application. I apply a dab on both cheeks, forehead and nose and the massage it all over and down my neck too.

Why It’s a Hit

Packed full of dermatologist inspired ingredients like niacinamide (a from of vitamin B3 that’s known to visibly improve uneven skin texture and complexion), plus hyaluronic acid (and more is more here!), Neutrogena Hydro Boost Niacinamide Serum is great for thirsty skin.

When it comes to skin hydration, hyaluronic acid is the kingpin of ingredients to look out for. I noticed that this, paired with amino acids and electrolytes is a real triple hit in the Water Gel formula, making it the perfect drink that all skin craves.

With an added Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) which mimics skin’s hydration, the effects are instant and it lasts all day and night. I love waking up looking like my skin has had the rest it needs, too.

The Results

I apply the Niacinamide Serum first, onto damp skin. And because I love a really dewy looking complexion, especially while wearing makeup, I slather on two layers of the Water Gel in the mornings and evenings to boost results. I find that applying it straight after the Niacinamide Serum helps it absorb more easily so it doesn’t just sit on the surface – a simple tip I picked up from multiple skincare experts over the years.

I can definitely see why 86% of users said the Niacinamide Serum left their skin feeling more hydrated after two weeks of using it.

What the Beauty Heaven Trial Team Thought

Beauty Heaven Trial Team members also trialled the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Niacinamide Serum – here are some of their thoughts.

“I found it was really nice and gentle on the skin not causing any irritation or break outs. I have noticed that my skin seems to look plumper and feels more hydrated and I think the skin tone looks a little more even,” says Kadey.

“This niacinamide serum is something else! The product left my skin feeling not only smooth but looking extremely brightened and fresh,” says Jordan.

“I have dry, more mature skin that tends to be a little sensitive, and I really appreciate the active ingredients and how gentle this is to use. My skin loves it, and feels plumper more hydrated!” says Kassie.
