New York Fashion Week rocked some serious nail art this year, with statement hands and show-stopping nails taking over the runway.

A stand-out was the collaboration between Johnson Hartigs’ Libertine Spring 2017 collection with CND Style Director, Jan Arnold. “Spring 2017 channels a retro futurist spirit, paying homage to iconic style with an edgy twist…” states Arnold.

The artists that comprised the CND Design Lab Team pulled together for a combined 300 hours to create this unique vision, featuring nails with portraits of Victorian royalty and American figureheads, all embellished with piercings and vibrant pops of colour.

The nails were an extension of the Libertine collection, strongly influenced by the rebellious punk-rock era with a nod to the 1970s and 1980s. Models rocked a different vibe on each hand, in pure juxtaposition—think “tough and fluff” or “smooth and rough,” says Arnold.

“These nails are a punk-rock collage like you’ve never seen before,” says designer Hartig. Mimic this hot new trend by experimenting with vivacious shades and layering pops of colour or embellished jewels on top.
