Revealing Victoria’s Secret
Victoria’s Secret has made a name for themselves by making lingerie a necessity for every woman. Despite its current target market, Victoria’s Secret was initially targeted for men who wanted to gift underwear for their wives and girlfriends. The brand’s owner, Roy Raymond, wanted to make lingerie shopping a fun and comfortable experience for both genders alike.
From their tiny leased space inside a Palo Alto shopping mall to more than 1000 stores worldwide, Victoria’s Secret has come a long way. Nowadays they’re known for their jewel-encrusted fantasy bras and annual fashion show that parades beautiful ‘angels’ in intricate lingerie. The fashion show might be cancelled this year, but that doesn’t stop the Victoria’s Secret angels from keeping their bikini worthy bodies.
What Does It Take To Be A VS Angel?
NY-based nutritionist, Dr Charles Passler, has stars like Adriana Lima and Bella Hadid under his care so it’s safe to say that he knows what the Victoria’s Secret model diet looks like. Here he shares three diet tips to help you get that picture-perfect body.
Don’t Be Afraid Of Carbs
Avoiding carbohydrates seems like the first step in every fad diet, but Dr Passler argues that “they fuel the muscle so they can work out and feel strong.” Where else are you going to get that energy to go through the intensive workout routines?
Instead of reaching for that white bread, reach for vegetables like zucchini, lettuce, and eggplants as these don’t have a high glycemic index and won’t raise your blood sugar levels. Other than helping you keep off the weight, avoiding high glycemic carbs can ward off heart disease and diabetes.
Intermittent Fasting Works
Intermittent fasting is a great way to keep track of what you eat (or don’t eat) throughout the day. It’s basically making a conscious decision to skip certain meals of the day. An example of how this diet plan works is having four meals that add up to 2000 calories for two days, then eating regularly for the rest of the week.
Get Enough Sleep
It’s a no-brainer that having enough sleep can help keep your metabolism on-point and is generally seen as a healthy habit. Victoria’s Secret angels manage to squeeze in at least 8 hours of sleep a day. “Without adequate sleep, you’re not recovering from your day and can’t be as aggressive (in workouts) as you want the upcoming day.” Dr Passler divulges.
The Angels
Bella Hadid
Diet: Bella keeps her diet well rounded and voids food trends that don’t make much of an impact on how her body looks like. When talking about what she eats for breakfast, Bella shares “My go-to is an egg sandwich on a plain bagel. One time I wanted to be healthy and got a gluten-free bagel, but I promise you, they suck.”
Exercise: She enjoys a variety of fat-burning activities but Bella is especially fond of workouts that last for hours. “When I work out, I love to work out. Like, I train and I work out hard for two hours,” she says.
Gigi Hadid
Diet: Gigi’s VS diet consists of a lot of protein and lean foods. But she’s not ashamed to say that she enjoys a good burger every now and then. She proudly says in an interview: “Eat clean to stay fit, have a burger to stay sane.” And we couldn’t agree more!
Exercise: With her sculpted abs and perfectly toned biceps, Gigi’s more than happy to say that she’s a workout freak. Surprisingly, she’s not a big fan of the gym. Instead, she prefers to spar and throw punches. “I need to have a sport that wakes me up and that I can get better at, and boxing does that for me,” she reveals.
Miranda Kerr
Diet: The mum of two believes in clean-eating is the key to her youthful figure. She follows the 80/20 rule which is eating healthy foods 80 percent of the time and squeezing her sinful pleasures 20 percent of the time. Her food selection for a day includes: banana pancakes for breakfast, juicy salmon for lunch and a light salad for dinner.
Exercise: Miranda’s workout philosophy is simple. She says that the key to good health is to have a well-rounded fitness routine. Miranda enjoys a wide array of exercises, from pilates to swimming. “Exercise shouldn’t be a chore, so I find if you choose activities or exercises that you enjoy you will be more inclined to keep it up,” she encourages.
Emily Ratajkowski
Diet: This VS model and Sports Illustrated cover girl tries to keep her meals light and shies away from overindulging. “Lunch is usually a salad or a sandwich. If I’m on set, I’ll have catering, but I’m well behaved with that stuff. It’s easy to go crazy—they know how to feed you.” the ‘Blurred Lines’ star spills.
Exercise: If you think that Emily goes hard in the gym, prepare to be surprised. She prefers slow workouts and the outdoors. She admits, “I really like being outside and doing yoga, so I do a lot of hiking in L.A. and I have a yoga studio really close to my house that I go to like once a week.”
