Nail Colours To Copy This Winter

Out with the old and in with the new!

Moving away from the bright hues of spring and summer, winter brings rich, dark tones that are moody, chic and incredibly versatile.

Move over cola hair, cherry red is the latest trend to take over the ‘strawberry girl’ aesthetic. It’s the perfect colour for winter and can be worn by all skin tones with just a few tweaks. “Cool skin tones can wear this shade as a solid manicure, warmer tones should experiment with a cherry micro-French tip or heart-shaped nail art” explains celebrity manicurist Oli Antunes.

Opi & Kester Black

Khaki Green

Another popular shade this season is cool khakis. “Green reigns supreme, think creamy khaki and olive tones. I can’t get enough of this earthy, sophisticated take on green that works for everyone” Antunes explains. This colour looks great with an extra shine so be sure to apply at least two coats of colour.

“Sophisticated and cosy in equal measure, paint nails in any variation from a latte shade to dramatic, warm cocoa,” Antunes says. “Look for cinnamon and caramel shades if you have a warm skin tone and taupe, coffee shades if you are cool”. Keep nail length short for maximum impact in this shade.

Greyish Blue

Summer nails often allude to bright colours, so switch your baby blues for a polish with greyer tones this winter. “A moody nail statement that oozes glamour yet looks refined,” Antunes explains. Since the colour shade range is vast, Antunes recommends selecting “balancing blue versus grey to nail the best hue”. Always finish with a top coat to extend the life of your colour.

Clean White

Moving away from pearlescent pinks, white is very much in for the cooler months. “Calming, serene and never out of style, white varieties are numerous in nature from snow white to more creamier versions,” says Antunes. Plus, as a neutral shade, white nails can work with any outfit and complement a range of colours.
