Before they tied the knot on Saturday 27 September 2014, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin had been engaged for 6 months and dated for 6 months prior to that.
“I plotted the whole thing out,” Clooney told Ellen Degeneres on the Ellen show. “I had the ring hidden behind her. I had music playing.”
Clooney says he got down on one knee and said, “I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life without you.”
Obviously she said “Yes” and now 4 years later they’re the proud parents of twins; Ella and Alexander.
But before we jump ahead, let’s go back to that amazing September at Belmond Hotel Cipriani, Venice where Amal and George Clooney’s wedding was the love story of the moment.

Dolce & Gabbana
Before we get into the beads and pearls of the actual wedding dress, let’s not forget that a great wedding spans a few days. And on each of those days Amal Alamuddin stepped out in style.
The first outfit? A striped dress suit by Dolce & Gabbana.
When Alamuddin arrived in Italy she was (almost) head to toe in D&G. The bold striped outfit was a classy move and the perfect look for the woman who was about to marry one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors.
The only non-D&G aspect? A pair of fabulously huge Prada Sunnies.

Alexander McQueen
For the pre-nuptials dinner, Alamuddin wore a stunning red Alexander McQueen gown. The dress had been tailored with a waterfall front and showed off Alamuddin’s legs.
Alamuddin, who teaches International Human Rights at Columbia Law School, NY, paired the scarlet dress with black heels, drop earrings and bright red lipstick.

Oscar de la Renta
At 82 years old, Oscar de la Renta was more than happy to create Amal Alamuddin’s wedding gown. As it turns out, it was the last creation he designed before his death later that year.
“It’s the most important dress in the life of a woman,” Oscar de la Renta told Vogue. “Any girl from any walk of life dreams of that special dress, and I try to make that dream a reality for her.”
And dreamy it was.
The off the shoulder ivory French gown was rumoured to cost $380,000 – a snippet of the $4.6 total wedding cost. Pearls and beads were sewn into the bodice and it had a full skirt with trail.
Charlotte Tilbury finished off Amal’s look with the perfect bridal makeup.

Giambattista Vali Haute Couture
The day after the ceremony Alamuddin wowed the crowd in a short Giambattista Vali Haute Couture outfit.
The made to measure dress had long sleeves and a short front with longer back. The white macramé body of the dress was embroidered with purple and peach beaded blossom and showed off the-now-Mrs-Clooney’s slim legs.

Bespoke Stella McCartney
The Civil Ceremony is where Alamuddin and Clooney were officially married.
It was held on Monday September 27 and for that, Alamuddin donned a navy and cream, bespoke Stella McCartney two piece.
Consisting of high-waisted wide leg trousers coupled with a seamless cropped top with navy trim, Alamuddin looked elegant and happy.
The ceremony only lasted 10 minutes but the outfit was worth it.
Four years and two kids later, she still looks fab and her wedding dress remains one of most sophisticated and memorable celebrity wedding dresses of the century.
