WHO’s most stylish Aussie celebs

Balinese princess and model Lindy Rama-Ellis (formerly Klim) is a firm favourite among the fashion elite. At her recent Tuscan wedding to new hubby Adam Ellis she was a vision in white. “Toni [Maticevski] was always going to design my dress,” Rama-Ellis, 40, explains to WHO. “I worked closely with him on that to get a whimsical, casual feel. I went barefoot to complement that and bring the whole look back down to earth, make it romantic and humble.”

Despite being a model, the mum-of- four has body hang-ups like other women. “As I’ve gotten older, I don’t particularly like showing my arms as much as I used to,” she says. “You find different parts of your body that you want to emphasise more or less.”

She may be “a tomboy at heart,” but the NRL WAG says since being pregnant with her second child to Rabbitohs footballer husband Sam Burgess, 29, she has been reaching for more muted colours. “You’ve obviously got this pile of hormones that turn you into someone very nurturing, protective and caring and it comes out in how I dress when I’m pregnant,” Phoebe, 29, says. “I’ve gone for softer, feminine florals and soft silhouettes.”While having to adjust her style to suit her growing baby bump, Burgess still draws her inspiration from her ultimate style icon—Vogue Australia’s fashion director, Christine Centenera. “No-one has ever made me starstruck like Christine. She’s tomboy, meets sporty, meets sexy.”

Former gymnast turned fashionista, Fairfax prefers not to play it safe in the style stakes. “I dress for myself and for how I’m feeling,” the 29-year-old explains to WHO. “Some days I wear hot pink head to toe, other days it’s something more subtle, but to me, fashion should be memorable. I always like to play around.” Fairfax’s style icons are reflective of her eclectic taste. “I look up to women not just for their style but for how they hold themselves. I’ve always loved Devon Aoki, Goldie Hawn and Liv Tyler. I think Liv Tyler is really authentic.”

With the mantra “always be comfortable” the blogger behind Harper and Harley and e-commerce store the Undone is the queen of understated polished elegance. With 561k Instagram followers watching her every fashion move, Crampton, 29, shakes off the pressure. “Social media has helped me develop a ‘water off a duck’s back’ attitude,” Crampton tells WHO.

“Realising you’ll never be able to please everyone makes you reconsider the desire of being perfect, because it simply doesn’t exist.” With a love of neutrals, Crampton details how her style has evolved over the years.

“I’ve gone through wanting to have the latest IT item to almost running away from them. It’s all about knowing your body and knowing what to avoid is just as important.”

Kate Waterhouse—daughter of Australian racing royalty and a style maven in her own right Gai Waterhouse—often dominates the Birdcage or struts the red carpet with a style she describes as “classic, polished but with a little edge.”

So how does she make everything look so effortlessly pulled together? “When you feel comfortable in what you’re in, you feel confident, so it has to fit you well and you have to feel good in it,” the mother-of-two tells WHO. “Know what works for your body shape and which colours work best.”

Waterhouse, 34, is also a fan of spending more on pieces that last longer. “If you invest in really good- quality pieces, you’ll wear them over and over again, and it’ll be something that will be a forever piece in your wardrobe. But don’t be afraid to experiment and make it your own.”
