Rumours are brewing that The Bachelor‘s Locky Gilbert is no longer dating his chosen winner and has – for want of a better phrase – “pulled a total Honey Badger”.
But now the 31-year-old has quashed the break up rumours in a since-deleted Instagram comment.
In a post uploaded to the official Bachelor Australia Instagram account, the team at Channel 10 shared a special image to wish Locky a happy 31st birthday.
However, despite many comments offering the 2020 Bachelor their best wishes , one fan of the show took the time to ask a controversial question.
“Cheers happy bday. Just hope [sic] your not fake! Been reading in magazines the whole show is fake!! If it’s true I don’t like it because you are playing with innocent victims unless you are all acting!” a Bachie fan commented.
However, Locky took the time to reply personally and said: “I can happily tell you I am madly in love and we are still happier then [sic] ever together,” followed by three love heart emojis.
Locky’s comment has since been mysteriously deleted from the post, so could there be trouble in paradise?
Perth-based Locky previously revealed that he is most definitely head over heels for his chosen winner, confirming the news to Now To Love.
“I wake every morning and the love is stronger and stronger, I can see so far into the future [with her].”
However, the couple have had to tackle the challenges that come with long-distance love, thanks to the coronavirus border closures.
“We had the rendezvous after the show, but because of COVID-19 and being locked up in a house in Perth, we haven’t seen each other yet and it doesn’t look likely to see each other until after the show,” Locky told Kyle and Jackie O on their radio show.
According to the bookies, nurse Irena Srbinovska is sitting at poll position to win Locky’s heart, with Bella Varelis as a close second.
But when asked by radio host Jackie O about Bella being the crowd favourite to win, former Survivor star Locky cleverly deflected her pointed question with an interesting anecdote of his own.
“I was paying a favourite for Survivor on Sportsbet, and I clearly didn’t win. They don’t know what they’re talking about,” he said.
Could that have been a sneaky hint that Irena is his Ms Right?
To ring in his 31st year, Locky enjoyed a day in the sun in his WA hometown.
Taking to his Instagram stories, the birthday boy thanked fans for their kind messages and shared a sweet and candid video with his mum
“I thought I’m come and see the original girl in my life for my birthday – my beautiful mum,” he said in the clip, before giving his mother a sweet cuddle and kiss.
In a previous interview with Who, Locky admitted that his mum and sister were nervous and worried for him to be on The Bachelor.
“My mum gets embarrassed super-easily so she was concerned. I think they’re happy about it now, though,” he confessed.
