They may have appeared to take things in their stride, but Married At First Sight’s Aleksandra Markovic has revealed that moving in with ‘husband’ Ivan Sarakula wasn’t smooth sailing.

“For me, it was really challenging moving in together,” she told Talking Married host Shelly Horton.
“I’ve never lived with a man before, so he was good actually. He did all the washing for us… he did all the domestic chores actually. I just slept all the time, it was great. So I was like, ‘Yeah, I could live with this man, this is good!’ In terms of household living together, there were no issues at all.”
However, when Ivan was shown the footage he was less than impressed, labelling Aleks as “lazy.”
“I think Aleks can be a little lazy,” he commented.
“But look, it’s all just starting to happen for both of us. She’s just like, ‘I’ll just couch and Netflix,’ and she said, ‘You can play with your tools’,” he admitted as they discussed assembling an IKEA flat pack in their new apartment.
“We were probably one of the only couples that actually spent every day together. Except for… Aleks likes to sleep. So she sleeps in every day, she can sleep for 14, 16 hours.
“I don’t know how that happens,” he continued. “So I go out for my run, go for a walk along the harbour, go to the gym, and then I come back and make a cup of coffee for her. So her mornings start with me holding a cup of coffee under her nose, and then we start our day together.”
On Sunday night’s episode, viewers watched as Ivan was publicly humiliated by Aleks after she admitted to their co-stars that he wasn’t her “usual tall, dark and handsome” type.
And the awkward moment resulted in a cringeworthy on-air radio spat for Ivan on Monday.
Appearing on the Gawndy and Ash Pollard Catch Up, the HIT 101.3’s breakfast radio duo introduced the real estate agent to their audience by saying, “Welcome to the show, the tall, light and ugly Ivan. Hello!”
The backhanded comment clearly struck a nerve, with the affable reality TV star quickly snapping back.
“That’s a good way to start off an interview if you want to get s**t out of me,” he replied.
“Mate, I’m just referring to how she [Aleksandra] didn’t call you tall, dark and handsome,” Gawndy explained.
“She didn’t call me ugly, though,” said Ivan, who was becoming more and more frustrated.
“Mate, we’re pretty happy to call this interview [off] right here, right now, to be honest. We don’t really need to talk to you if we don’t want to,” Gawndy said, adding that it was just “a bit of radio banter”.
Hilariously, an infuriated Ivan— who clearly felt disrespected and refused to accept Gawndy’s apology— called his bluff and hung up before the breakfast host’s had the chance to.
