Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant were the Married At First Sight golden couple of season six, and now the happy couple have welcomed their first child.
Taking to Instagram, new mum Jules, 37, shared a video montage of her birthing experience, that features their newborn son’s tiny hand and also revealed the long-awaited name.
“#loveatfirstsight I would do it a thousand times again for you Oliver Chase Merchant,” she wrote.
“Our little man has arrived ❤️ #surprise #itsaboy healthy and beautiful and my heart is full. We are home now and enjoying the love bubble and getting to know our lil man Ollie who has the world ahead of him.”
The new parents were flooded with messages of congratulations from their fans and followers, including several MAFS alumni members.
“Congratulations… that’s such lovely news!” wrote season five’s Sarah Jane Roza.
Fellow season five bride Melissa Walsh also commented: “So thrilled for you both . Congratulations on the birth of your little man, Ollie.”
“Congrats guys,so lovely!” 2020 groom Josh Pihlak said.
Jules, who met and fell in love with husband Cam on the set of Married At First Sight in 2019, announced her pregnancy back in April to Stellar magazine, where she explained she anticipated more of a struggle to fall pregnant considering her age.
“I honestly thought it was going to come with a fight,” the former MAFS bride said.
“Because of my age, I had done all the hormone testing, the egg count … so much is instilled that you’re going to struggle because of your age … On the flip side, I think my saving grace was because all my focus was on launching my Figur shapewear line, it wasn’t the centre of my universe. I wasn’t obsessing over it. And for that, I’m so grateful.”
Cam was also moved by the exciting news and admitted to shedding a few tears.
The couple also revealed that they didn’t want to find out the sex of their baby until the birth, with Jules explained her reasoning to Who in an exclusive chat.
“I think everything is so instant nowadays, so it’s nice to build that anticipation. Waiting to meet your baby and find out what you get is one of the greatest old-fashioned surprises in life,” she revealed.
“We don’t mind what we have, but I think Cam would secretly like a daughter so she can be daddy’s little girl. I’m being drawn to lots of pinks and florals when it comes to buying clothes and planning the nursery in our new home so maybe that’s a sign, too.”
Despite the added pressures of moving house and staying busy with work, Jules added that the best part of her pregnancy was feeling her baby move inside her.
“To be creating a new life with my husband is an indescribable joy, too. We feel very blessed – and we cant wait to meet our baby. We’re so ready.”
New mum Jules has also admitted that she reckons Cam will be “a massive softie” as a parent.
“The thought of having a mini-Cam in my life absolutely melts my heart. He’s a cricketer and mentor, and he’s just amazing with kids. I hope our baby turns out just like him because he’s an angel,” she said of her husband.
Jules and Cam are the second Married At First Sight couple matched on the show to welcome a baby. Season one’s Zoe Hendrix and Alex Garner welcomed daughter Harper-Rose in 2016, but the pair broke up in 2018 after four years together.
