The Married At First Sight star, who split from Jackson Lonie in 2022, revealed her recent move to Scotland was inspired by a new romance.
The 30-year-old revealed she had met the mystery man in December and had spent months talking to him every day after she returned to Australia. In June she decided to relocate to Fort Williams to be with him.
After relocating to the remote Scottish town to pursue the new romance, alarm bells started ringing.
“I wasn’t going to share this publicly, but I think it’s important to remind other girls not to ignore red flags from the start because you so desperately want it to work with someone. I feel like I’ve been completely scammed and made a fool out of,” Olivia told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“We spoke almost every day since we met at the start of the year and he told me he wanted me to meet his son once I got back to Scotland, told me he wanted to give things a real go between us and made me feel so wanted after everything I’d been through after MAFS – but it was all lies.”
Explaining that two of her friends initially visited the town with her, Olivia admitted they were instantly “suspicious” of her new beau. Once they left Scotland and Olivia was alone in the remote town, her relationship quickly began to “sizzle out” and soon there was no communication.
“I had no idea what to do, or what I’d done wrong,” Olivia explained. “A lady in a pub then approached me and asked if I was still seeing him. I told her ‘ah that’s a bit complicated’ and she said: ‘Don’t. He has a girlfriend. Has had a girlfriend the whole time. You can you can do better Pet’.”
“Part of me is embarrassed to be coming home after all of the articles made such a big deal out of me moving to the UK, but I’m proud of myself for at least giving it a go, being vulnerable and open to finding love again. I just know next time I meet someone not to be so blinded by how much I want it to work.”
“It just feels like… the biggest disrespect of my time, energy and money,” Olivia later explained on Instagram. “I’m on the other side of the world, apart [from] my friends I have here, I’m completely by myself and it’s just such a f**k around.”
Telling her followers that she realised she had kept them “in the dark”, she explained that she understood that a lot of people were invested in her love life.
“Now my heart is literally in pieces like this is the worst f**king thing in my entire life and I just want to be honest with you,” she said.
Following news in 2022 that Olivia and Jackson, who were paired up on MAFS, had split, she revealed the pair went their separate ways “amicably”.
“I understand people like to think that I got ‘dumped’ but it wasn’t like that at all,” she penned on Instagram.
“We’re adults. We had an adult conversation about how the relationship wasn’t working for either of us and we both came to the resolution that splitting up was the only thing left to do.
“There’s no ‘juicy’ story. There’s no truth to the ‘haha he dumped you’ comments people say. It was a peaceful, joint decision.”
