On Sunday evening, Miley Cyrus and her new boyfriend of literally two-weeks, Cody Simpson, joined an Instagram Live video where she low key shaded her ex-husband of eight months, Liam Hemsworth.

Speaking about her perfect romance with Cody to her 100 million followers, the pop sensation inferred her relationship with the Hunger Games actor was so troubled, it made her lose faith in men. Shocking fans with her candour, Miley took another thinly-veiled swipe at her ex of a decade when she implied Liam was so “evil” she had no choice but to date women instead.
“I always thought I had to be gay because I just thought, like, all guys were evil, but it’s not true. There are good people out there that just happen to have d*cks. I’ve only ever met one…and he’s on this Live,” she said.
The “Slide Away” singer also said: “There are good men out there, guys, don’t give up. You don’t have to be gay, there are good people with d**ks out there, you’ve just got to find them. You’ve got to find a d**k that’s not a d**k, you know.”
Understandably, her distasteful comments about her sexuality sparked outrage, with many fans slamming the star for implying she was only ever gay because she couldn’t find a man to date.
“Miley, this is so not it. Women don’t “have to be gay” because they “can’t find a good person with a d*ck”. Don’t use the queer community as a stop-gap because you couldn’t find a boyfriend. People aren’t queer because they “gave up” on men. This is so insulting,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Miley saying “you don’t have to be gay” is so cringe as if people choose to be gay just because they can’t find someone of the opposite sex that isn’t a dick. That’s not how this works Miss Cyrus,” another angry user added.
Less than a month after confirming they were more than friends with benefits, the unlikely duo has been putting their love for one another on display, oftentimes grossing fans with their intense PDA sessions. Basically, it’s getting serious, and by serious we mean even Cody’s mum has publicly weighed in on their whirlwind romance.
Sharing a photo of the couple to her Instagram, the proud mum wrote: “Puts a smile on my dial to see you both so blissfully happy. Hearing your laughs and seeing the smiles on your faces lights up my heart #happyforyouguys #beautifullsouls”
The former Disney star was quick to respond to the shoutout, commenting a series of black hearts under the adorable snap.
Not surprisingly, Cody’s younger sister Alli also adores the pop sensation— who recently returned to acting to star in an episode of Black Mirror— revealing last week that they’re very much in love.
“It’s very new, but they have history and they’re posting about each other a lot,” the 21-year-old singer-songwriter told The Daily Mail.
