Ariel Winter has brought her favourite character from the 1989 Disney classic The Little Mermaid to life with a new hair ‘do.

Earlier this week, the Modern Family actress had fans talking when she took to Instagram to debut her long and luscious new red locks. Yep, that’s a pretty big switch up for the 21-year-old who’s used to rocking jet black hair.

“Part of yourrrr worlddddd,” the star captioned the photo, quoting the iconic ballad Ariel sings in the film.

Positive comments quickly flooded in, with many complimenting the star on her fresh and youthful new look!

“Is this you?” one user commented, with another adding, “ummmmmm you look SO good wow! I am so into this.”

I’m sure you’re all wondering whether a drastic transformation like this is hard to pull off? According to her hairstylist Tim Duenas and colourist Tabitha Duenas, the answer is yes. It literally took seven hours to finish!

We did multiple colour removers to remove her black colour, then went over it twice with a balayage technique to lift her to an even strawberry tone,” Tabitha told Hollywood Life. “We followed up with Joico defy damage treatments to make sure her hair stayed healthy through the process. We then coloured all over with her vibrant copper red. Finally, to make it pop and shine, we glossed all over with Redken Shades EQ.”

The star has always been open about her changing looks, revealing in 2015 that she underwent a breast reduction at the age of 17 to reduce the size of her boobs from a 32F to a 34D.

“It’s amazing to finally feel right,” she said at the time. “This is how I was supposed to be.”

She’s since opened up about why she decided on the surgery, admitting that she was dealing with horrific back pain.

“I had a lot of back problems. I really couldn’t stand up straight for a long period of time. It started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain,” she told Glamour.com. “My neck was hurting so bad and I actually had some problems with my spine. I had been discussing my chest with doctors for many years, but when I finally said, ‘I’m thinking of doing this,’ he said, ‘Your back is going to thank you so much.'”

She also said she struggled to find clothing that suited her figure.

“There was so little that I could wear that was age-appropriate. I’d have to wear the dress that was super tight and form-fitted everywhere because if I didn’t, it didn’t look good. I didn’t really have an option other than to wear fitted clothes. Everyone would [say], ‘Why is she dressing so mature? That’s so inappropriate for her age!’ I understood what they were saying,” she explained. “It’s not like I wanted to pick out those inappropriate dresses, it’s just that I didn’t really have another choice, or I was going to get ridiculed.”
