Former reality TV contestant, Kate Cook, who shot to fame on Australian Idol in 2009 has been found dead following an emergency search by police.

According to  Nine.com.au, the Country singer was discovered in bushland nearby her Lowood home after police were notified of her disappearance by concerned friends on March. 3.

At this stage, authorities are not treating her passing as suspicious.

The talented star won hearts around the nation when she dedicated an original song –titled Make You Stay – to her late mother, who had committed suicide while she was just a teen.

“Two days before I turned 17 my younger sister and I found her. She committed suicide, so it was pretty tough,” Cook said the judges before showcasing her talent.

“I’ve had a long road to sort of find myself after being lost for a long time. So I sort found myself through strength and music.”
