Hearts collectively broke around the nation when Shaun Hampson broke down after receiving a video message from his partner of eight years, Megan Gale during this season’s Australian Survivor.
And now, the AFL star has revealed just how incredibly tough it was to spend weeks apart from the Aussie supermodel.

Despite viewers watching his shock elimination in the Tribal Council on Sunday night’s episode, the father of two was sent to the Jury Villa and wasn’t able to be reunited with his family for another three weeks.
It was a bit of a strange one because I’m thinking to myself, ‘Man, if I just went to tribal before I could be home with my family now instead of having to spend two and a half or three weeks in Jury Villa,’ Shaun told 10 Daily.
In fact, the 31-year-old was forced to miss key family milestones, such as his son, River’s fifth birthday and the launch of 44-year-old Megan’s new business venture.
Earlier this month, Australian Survivor viewers witnessed Shaun break down after receiving a video message from Megan.
“Hello, friend. How are you?” the brunette beauty began.
“The kids miss you so much, and I miss you so much. I knew that I would, but I think I underestimated just how much I’d miss you … This is my third take at doing this because I just keep sobbing, so I’m going to try and get through this without crying,” Megan said, bringing on tears from a watching Shaun.
“I love you, I miss you, I can’t wait to see you again. Go for it, baby!”
Shaun – who also shares daughter, Rosie, 23-months, with Megan also recently spoke about his staggering 11-kilo weight loss as a result of the Network 10 show’s punishing diet.
‘It was about the skinniest I’d been since I was 18 or 19 years old,’ the buff star revealed to the Courier Mail.
