The loved ones of the sixth person to die in the Melbourne CBD car rampage are struggling to come to terms with their loss.
Financial consultant Bhavita Patel, 33, died on Monday evening, after her life support was switched off. The Blackburn South woman had suffered critical injuries in the Bourke Street attack.
“My parents and I are broken,” her brother Mitesh Patel, 30, told the Herald Sun. “But we all appreciate the love we’re getting from people.”
Bhavita, who was a financial consultant with Deloitte, had been walking back to her Bourke Street office after lunch when she was struck by a Holden Commodore that mounted footpaths and tore down the bustling Bourke Street Mall.
The five other people who died were 3-month-old baby Zachary Bryant, 10-year-old Thalia Hakin, Matthew Si, 33, Jess Mudie, 22, and a 25-year-old Japanese man.
Dimitrious Gargasoulas, 26, has been charged with five counts of murder with other charges pending.
“I have no idea what to say about what happened except that I miss her and love her so much,” said Mitesh. “And can’t believe that I won’t see her anymore.”
