Chrissy Teigen has taken to social media to share the crazy story of how she seriously believed she had uncovered her long-lost secret identical twin.
Confused? So was she! On Sunday the 37-year-old revealed that she had recently been on a “health and wellness” journey and was in the process of “trying to figure out about my past and my family.”
Part of this undertaking included a DNA test – something that she had attempted a few years ago but was keen to try again since the tests were now more advanced.
“I paid for some of the upgrades, and the first thing that came up after I found out that I was part Neanderthal was this,” she explained, pointing to a screenshot showing off her results.
“I have an identical twin.”
Chrissy then did what any person would do. She spiralled.
“I call my dad and I’m literally saying, ‘Dad, like, hey, did you seen me come out of mum’s vagina and were there two of me?'” she explained in the video.
“No, I was there, there are not two of you!” her dad replied.
Chrissy then reached out to her sister, Tina, in an attempt to understand if she did in fact have a sister she had never heard of. When asked the big question, her sister gasped, leading Chrissy to believe the results were true.
“I was like, ‘Oh my god, I do.’ At this point, I’m making excuses for my whole life,” she recalled.
“I’m like, ‘This is why I’m co-dependent, cause, like, my twin was ripped away from me. I’ve always felt something missing, and this is why I have addiction issues.'”
But thanks to her sister’s quick thinking, they quickly got to the bottom of the mystery.
Years ago, Chrissy was supposed to appear on the show Finding Your Roots, where celebs trace their family tree.
Although her episode never aired, she did complete a DNA test for it.
“They had us all take DNA tests, and they put it under, like, secret names so the world couldn’t tell,” she said.
“My identical twin was myself. I was matching myself.”
