Instead, the 50-year-old TV star will announce the winner via a video link from the USA.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the episode was due to be filmed in Sydney but Jonathan has opted not to travel due to COVID-19 concerns.

‘The welfare of everyone involved in our shows is our number one priority so the filming will not have a live audience and host Jonathan LaPaglia will stay in the USA rather than travel to Australia,’ an Endemol Shine spokesperson told the publication.

‘He will still be a part of the Finale via a satellite link from LA.’

Instead, Bachelor host Osher Gungsberg will take over the question and answer element of the live finale.

Filming of The Voice Australia has been stalled while coaches Guy Sebastian and Kelly Rowland, and new host Renee Bargh, remain in America.

Meanwhile, Channel 10 producers of the Amazing Race Australia have confirmed that contestants will be exploring Australia, rather than filming overseas, due to health concerns over COVID-19.

The upcoming season is due to begin filming in June.

‘Due to the current cautions around international travel due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a domestic route has proven the safest option for the upcoming season,’ a Network 10 spokesperson told TV tonight.

They added: ‘The welfare of cast and crew is of the upmost importance and all necessary measures will be taken to ensure their protection.’
