Elon Musk and his girlfriend Grimes, 32, broke the internet when they announced they’d named their newborn son X Æ A-12.

What on earth does that mean? Well, no one knows for sure but Twitter is lit with complex theories that are too much for my tiny brain to comprehend, so I’m just going to leave a condensed summary right here:

Some have suggested the ‘X’ could come from SpaceX, the 48-year-old’s rocket-building company. Others say ‘Æ’ could pay homage to Grimes’ hit single off her latest album, with others believe it’s a complex way of writing the name ‘Ash’.

‘A-12’ was a reconnaissance aircraft built for the CIA. And if anyone has some top-secret business going on behind the scenes, it’s definitely Elon.

There’s also a theory that if you combine X, Ash and A-12 and you get Sascha 12.

Someone else reckons the name means Xavier, writing: “It’s Xavier. X-a, then 1 in mandarin is ‘yee’ and 2 is ‘er.’ Thank you for listening to me, a stable genius.”

While everyone is extremely confused, we all knew the couple— who went public with their relationship at the 2018 Met Gala—would give their child a strange name. There was even a bizarre rumour that suggested they were planning to name their child Influenza!

Fans of the Canadian musician and billionaire went into meltdown mode when fake news site, World Grey, reported they’d selected the unique name to commemorate the Coronavirus pandemic.

The article was titled, ‘Grimes named her child WHAT’ and included a false BBC News logo and fake quotes from the artist unveiling their baby’s name.

To make matters worse and even more believable, Twitter account Pop Base— which boasts 24, 000 followers— shared the inaccurate online article which racked up more than 25, 000 likes. It was also retweeted over 2, 400 times.

All of this aside, the tech entrepreneur and Tesla CEO announced the birth of his newborn son on social media last night, sharing a photo of himself staring adoringly into his baby’s eyes while holding him close to his chest. Moments later, he tweeted a snap of their new bundle of joy swaddled in a receiving blanket.

While the Canadian singer— who announced her pregnancy in January— is yet to share the happy news with her followers, she recently opened up about her journey to motherhood. In an interesting interview with Rolling Stone, Grimes discussed the meaning behind her new track, “So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth,” admitting it’s about “the sort of tragedy” of getting pregnant.

“Even though it’s this great thing for a girl, it’s sacrificing your body and your freedom,” she said.

“It’s a pretty crazy sacrifice and only half of the population has to do it. It was really profound to me when I decided I was going to do it, to actually go through the act of, like, y’know, unprotected sex. I’m just like, I have sacrificed my power in this moment. I have, like, capitulated. And I have spent my whole life avoiding that situation. I have never capitulated to anything, so it was just a profound commitment.

“I do actually just really love my boyfriend,” she added. “So I was like, ‘You know, sure.’”

While she’s notoriously private, Grimes also spilled on her two-year-long romance with the SpaceX founder— who has a net worth of 39.5 billion USD— saying they’ve been in a period of growth.

“No one believes me about this, but I just did not understand what I was getting into at all. Not that I’m mad about it. I just didn’t think it would be a thing. The s**t that’s happened with my boyfriend this year has overwritten so much of my life’s work.”
