John Krasinski, born on October 20, 1979, in Newton, Massachusetts is an American actor, director and writer who gained fame through his role as Jim Halpert in The Office and playing the titular role in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. In 2024, he was announced People’s Sexiest Man Alive.
How did John Krasinski meet Emily Blunt?
The couple’s love story began in 2008 when Emily Blunt and John Krasinski met through a mutual friend in Los Angeles.
“It’s kind of a sad, lame story. I was in a restaurant, he was in the restaurant. I was sitting with a mutual friend,” Emily explained on Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2018.
“And my friend Gray goes ‘Oh my god, that’s my friend John.’ And that was it. He was sitting with our friend Justin Theroux, and he abandoned Justin and came over to us. He just stood there and made me laugh.”
While they may agree on how they first met – how they began dating is more complicated. John told The Hollywood Reporter that it took some convincing after they met for the actress to agree to a date.
However, Emily disagreed, explaining that she was actually the one who John out first.
The pair met for pizza at John’s apartment for their first date – and the rest is history! Although something else did happen during their initial meetup, the couple told the publication that they’ve decided to keep it to themselves.

After dating for nearly a year, the couple announced their engagement in August 2009 and tied the knot on July 10, 2010, in a private ceremony at George Clooney’s estate in Lake Como, Italy.
