Fourteen years after the original film debuted, we’ll finally get to see what happened when superhero family the Parrs took on The Underminer at the very end of The Incredibles. Picking up exactly where the 2004 animated movie ended, long-overdue sequel Incredibles 2 continues the story of Mr Incredible, Elastigirl and their kids as they juggle their special skills and normal lives. Returning to the franchise are:
Elastigirl (Holly Hunter)
Recruited to be the public face of “supers”, the ultra-stretchy mum-of-three is working full-time fighting crime.
Mr Incredible (Craig T Nelson)
With Mum at work, it’s up to super-strong Dad to stay at home and look after the kids—something he’s not super-happy about.
Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner, replacing Spencer Fox) and Jack-Jack.
In between the squabbling older siblings and a baby who seems to be demonstrating all manner of special abilities, Mr Incredible has his hands full.
Frozone (Samuel L Jackson)
Mr Incredible’s ice-making best friend, aka Lucius Best, is ready to jump into action… even if that means helping with daddy duties.
Also back: fashion adviser Edna Mode (Brad Bird), government agent Rick Dicker (Jonathan Banks, replacing the late Bud Luckey) and mole-like villain The Underminer (John Ratzenberger).
Several new characters will also appear in Incredibles 2, including a mysterious new villain we get a glimpse of in the trailer. Here’s what we know about the other newcomers:
Voyd (Sophia Bush)
She’s a huge fan of Elastigirl and would love to be just like her, but is her skill of creating voids that allow objects to appear and disappear enough to make her an A-list hero?
Winston (Bob Odenkirk) and Evelyn Deavor (Catherine Keener)
This brother-sister duo run a telecommunications company and plan to use Elastigirl to help spin the public image of superheroes.
The Ambassador (Isabella Rossellini)
A political bigwig who’s also part of the movement to legalise heroes.
Incredibles 2 is in cinemas on June 14.
