The fired rugby star had already received over $750,000 in donations before it was removed.

The page had received a barrage full of complaints, stating that his ’cause’ was a breach of GoFundMe’s terms of service.

According to the website, they will not accept any campaigns that “we deem, in our sole discretion, to be in support of, or for the legal defence of alleged crimes associated with hate, violence, harassment, bullying, discrimination, terrorism, or intolerance of any kind relating to race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender or gender identity, or serious disabilities or diseases”.

Folau got into this mess by initially posting an Instagram message that claimed gays would go to hell. The backlash that followed led to his sacking.

Recently, the Australian Christian Lobby’s managing director Martyn Iles spoke on The Project to defend Folau’s message.

He claims that Christians were “marginalised”, and host Lisa Wilkinson tried to ask him what he thinks of gays.

“Speaking of feeling marginalised, do you believe that homosexuals go to hell?” Lisa asked.

“The mainstream Christian belief on this is that all of us are born going to hell,” Mr Iles responded.

Iles’ organisation was helping Folau’s GoFundMe campaign, which set a $3 million goal.

The GoFundMe campaign seemed ridiculous to people who understand that Folau has a $7 million property empire. He also recently owned a Lamborghini worth $500,000.

The Projecyt’s co-host Tommy Little continued to push Iles’ answer to Lisa, asking if he agreed with Folau’s statement that gays will go to hell.

“I’m not really clear what you do think,” Little said. “Do you think homosexuals go to hell or not?”

“No, I don’t think it’s that simple,” Iles finally responded.

“I think that all of us will be judged by God and the reason we go to hell is because we decline the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.”
