Jessica Mauboy confirmed speculation that she and her boyfriend Themeli Magripilis were officially engaged last night when she spoke to the media after touching down at Sydney Airport on October 15.

Touching down after a romantic trip together around Europe, Jess and Themeli – who have been together for 10 years – couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces as they made their way from the arrivals lounge to their waiting car.
Speaking candidly to the waiting reporters – but being careful to keep her left hand (complete with bling) tucked away in her jacket pocket – the 30-year-old singer spoke about just how special the proposal was to her.
“It’s very exciting,” said Jess, grinning ear to ear as she strolled to the carpark.
Since announcing the exciting news, the Aussie star has given fans a glimpse of her stunning engagement ring.
She just posted a photo with her future hubby with the caption: “The love of my life proposed to me in his family’s home town of Kalymnos, Greece on the beach at sunset 🌅 We are so happy 💍 I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. Thank you for all the love.”
And in case you were wondering – no, she did not see it coming!
“It was a big surprise; it was pretty crazy…” she admitted. “I didn’t expect it at all, that’s for sure. In the future, but not so soon.”
Speaking about Themeli’s romantic proposal itself, which reportedly took place on a beautiful beach in his native Greece, Jess wasn’t giving away too much, saying, “It was really nice, it was lovely.”
The beloved Aussie singer was also thrilled to have had her extended family around to help celebrate while the pair were overseas.
“It was great, the family were all there,” she said of the trip. “It was nice to have everybody around.”
Themeli stayed tight-lipped when asked if he was excited about the upcoming wedding, but his broad smile gave it away!
The news may come as somewhat as a surprise to the Australian Idol star’s fans, given she appeared to dismiss plans of marriage during a chat with Kyle and Jackie O back in August.
“Have you organised any weddings? This boyfriend has been hanging around for a long time now,” Kyle probed.
“I haven’t had any time to pull that stuff together!” Jess teased.
Saying what we were all thinking, Kyle shot back: “That’s bull s**t, Jessica, I don’t believe it!”
Earlier this year, Jess revealed that her single Little Things was inspired by an argument with her now fiancé.
“It does stem from my relationship, and unfortunately it was a disagreement between me and my partner, Them,” she said during an interview with Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa.
“Which is great, I mean, a song came out of it,” she joked.
“This disagreement started on a Saturday night and then it trailed all the way through to Sunday. It was pretty shitty,” she said, before reassuring that despite the disagreement her relationship was still better than ever.
The song serves as the second taster from Mauboy’s upcoming fourth studio album Hilda, which is available from October 18.
“Little Things is such a personal song to me as it’s about my family – my mother and my grandmother Hilda. It is my most emotional song that I’ve ever shared, and I’m so thankful to see how many of you are already embracing it.”
“I’m really proud of this video; it’s me at my rawest and I can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction to it” added the former Australian Idol and Eurovision star.
