Kate Hudson gained about 32kgs while pregnant with son Ryder, now 14, (and less with son Bingham, 7), and took the weight off slowly.

But after giving birth to daughter Rani Rose on Oct. 2, the actress and co-founder of Fabletics activewear decided to be more proactive.

This time around, she agreed to become an ambassador for WW (formerly Weight Watchers).

“It came at a perfect time for me because at this point, after having three babies, it’s like sense memory,” says Hudson, 39.

“You want to start getting back into shape and to get strong again and focus on your own personal health.”

Hudson joined the program to reach her goal of dropping 11kg before she starts filming a new movie.

“I was really sick during this pregnancy – I couldn’t do any workouts,” she says. “So for me it’s actually kind of a fun time to challenge my body again.”

She’s back to working out with Pilates and spin classes on her Peloton bike, and has started using WW’s “simple and helpful” Freestyle program– which assigns a point value to everything she eats – to keep track of her meals.

“I had sushi last night and was plugging everything in, and I was like, ‘Ooh, edamame is zero points.’ It makes it fun,” she says.

Plus, Hudson says, she loves the sense of community that is such a big part of WW, which offers active online chat groups and in-person meetings.

“One of my passions is wanting people to live their most optimum life,” she says, “and one of the number one things for that is finding a community that can support you.”
