Aussie funny man Hamish Blake is the perfect person to host Lego Masters Australia – in fact, it’s a job his eight-year-old self would no doubt have dreamt about.

“My big fear going into this, and I openly talked about this before going into the show, was what if I get sick of Lego?,” the 37-year-old told The Advertiser.

“There was a real possibility. I like Lego, don’t get me wrong, I build it a few times a year and I play with kids, but there’s a difference between me as a casual dad consumer Lego fan vs every single day doing it 12-hours a day.

“I’ve got to say after the first few days that fear began to abate. I think I’ve gone deep, Lego’s got me. The more you get to know about the (Lego) world, the more detail you see, the more nuances you get your head around. I think it’s had the opposite effect – and I think it bodes well for the show.”

Starting his radio career with mate Andy Lee in the early 2000s, the pair wowed audiences with their national Drive show. The loveable duo went on to win fans during a break from radio with their hugely successful Gap Year show, featuring the boys’ escapades in New York, the UK, Asia, South America, India, New Zealand and Europe, resulting in a gold Logie win for Hamish.

In the past few years Hamish has launched a successful podcast alongside Andy, and the duo are set to resume their travel adventures when Hamish and Andy’s Perfect Holiday airs later this year.

When he’s not busy entertaining us on TV, Hamish can be found hanging out with his wife, Zoe Foster Blake and their two children, five year-old son, Sonny and 18-month old daughter, Rudy.
