Do you speak about money on the first date wedding? That’s the question on everyone’s lips after the tense first meeting between Janelle and Adam in Season 10 of Married At First Sight Australia.
Full-time content creator Janelle had one type of person in mind when thinking of who she could see herself marrying – a financially stable, career-focused man.
Enter Adam. An entrepreneur in the crypto-space who also wants to start a podcast. A match made in heaven? Maybe not, considering their rocky wedding day.
Not only was money a tense subject between the couple, but Adam’s personal vows at the ceremony also kicked off some drama.
“I haven’t lived a perfect life, I’ve done things I’ve regretted, I’ve made mistakes and I’ve lost myself along the way, but they have all taught me lessons and made me the person I am today,” Adam emotionally explained.
Whilst it may sound sweet, it rose some red flags for Janelle’s protective brothers, who quickly got to the bottom of Adam’s backstory, who learnt that he cheated in a previous relationship.
But Janelle was able to move past the relationship history to return once again to the money and career questions – much to Adam’s dismay.
“He’s 35 and doesn’t really have a solid career,” a concerned Janelle explained.
Whilst a frustrated Adam shared that, “She’s stuck in her own head…it’s a turn off.”
While the pair (briefly) got over their rocky start during their honeymoon, a case of infidelity may just break the pair apart.
After exposing an alleged entanglement between his partner Claire and Janelle’s spouse, Adam, Jesse is keen to set the record straight – and so are the producers.
During Confession Week, the experts set Janelle and Adam the challenge to go through each other’s phones. The result? Adam’s “meaningful” suggestion to skip it and show their true strength!
Things were finally back on track for the couple until Claire revealed two weeks later that she did in fact kiss Adam.
After Adam begrudgingly told Janelle, tempers flared and the commitment ceremony was full of drama.

The commitment ceremony saw the cheating scandal blow up for good, with one couple choosing to exit the experiment.
For Adam, the commitment ceremony was full of hard truths, as the experts berated his lack of accountability.
“Don’t insult our intelligence,” the experts told Adam following his insistence that he was just a “flirty guy” and that the kiss wasn’t premeditated, just due to a “vibe” between himself and Claire.
“The cheating was one thing but it was all the actions that followed that made it worse. It was the lack of accountability, the lack of apology that felt so shocking,” shared Janelle.
Both Adam and Janelle ultimately chose to leave the experiment, with Adam giving one final apology before leaving the room.
And in telling scenes, not one contestant chose to follow him, instead comforting Janelle.
