It’s been more than a year since Jimmy and Nadia Bartel announced their split following an alleged cheating scandal involving the Geelong Cats AFL great. But while the 35-year-old stands by her decision to leave her marriage, she’s still not willing to give up the ‘Bartel’ surname.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph over the weekend, the mum-of-two explained that she “can’t imagine” having different monikers to the children she shares with her ex, Aston, four, and Henley, two.
“Right now, I want to have the same name as the boys,” she said when asked if she’d be reverting back to her maiden name of Coppolino.
“I can’t imagine having another surname,” she added.
“If I didn’t have children it would be a different story. I don’t know what I might do in the future.”
While the details surrounding their break up remain largely unknown, it’s been widely reported that the designer found text messages on her husband’s phone, suggesting he’d been having an affair with office worker Lauren Mand.
At the time, she’d been living in London while the retired footballer spent three months travelling around the UK.
It wasn’t long after this that the couple took their relationship public, with Lauren seemingly confirming she had been secretly dating Jimmy Bartel while he was still married.
In a cryptic post shared to her Instagram page less than a month before the news of Jimmy and Nadia’s split broke, Lauren said she was “undecided but in love”.
The couple are now living in Melbourne together and have recently adopted a puppy named Kensi.
Back in September, Nadia addressed the public scandal in a tearful piece-to-camera during her appearance on the charity burlesque show The All New Monty: Ladies’ Night.
“It’s been a tough time personally for me recently. It’s just so painful,” she said, welling up as footage and photos of the young family aired.
“I’m hoping with Ladies’ Night it will give me more confidence. Obviously, we’re there for the cause, but I think it will be great for me to put myself out there, doing something that is definitely totally out of my comfort zone. I think it will give me a whole new load of confidence.”
The single mum has recently been linked to personal trainer Nathan Brodie, with the pair spotted on a romantic date at a park in Melbourne last month.
