Die-hard Neighbours fans, prepare to get excited – two of the soap’s most iconic characters are making a return to Ramsey Street after nearly three decades.

Remember the Blakeney twins? Well, according to TV Tonight, the Aussie soap is welcoming back characters Christina and Caroline Alessi – played by real-life twins Gayle and Gillian Blakeney – to the show some 27-years after they last graced out screens.

To refresh your memory, Christina was Paul Robinson’s wife and Caroline was his lover.

The twins also enjoyed a short-lived pop career, recording with Stock Aitken Waterman, of Kylie Minogue fame, releasing All Mixed Up which scraped the charts at #74 in Australia in 1991.

“We were tickled pink to be asked back and we knew if they wanted to reprise the characters after nearly 30 years, it had to be for a great story line which it is. We’re really looking forward to filming it,” said Gayle.

“Strangely enough it feels just so comfortable and familiar despite the obvious changes, the cast and crew have been so welcoming,” added Gillian.
