The 24-year-old’s ex-boyfriend Matt Arnautovic was reportedly caught driving Bonnie’s car over the speed limit on October 22, 2017. The brunette beauty’s lawyer, Rainer Martini, says the recent Logie nominee had shown “misguided loyalty” to her troubled boyfriend when she covered up for him.
Police propose that Bonnie told them Arnautovic “had been with her all night” when he had in fact been driving her car in a dangerous manner, something he later admitted to on April 2.
In his summing up, Bonnie’s lawyer made pointed out her various positive character traits, listing the actresses career achievements.
“At the age of 12 she won Australia’s Got Talent in singing in 2007,” he said.
“She won a Golden Aria Award in 2014, a Logie nomination in 2019 for Most Popular New Talent … and she is an actor in Neighbours your honour,” he said.
After pleading guilty to failing to give information as to who was driving her car and failing to notify a change in her residential details within 14 days, the judge released the star on a three-month good behaviour bond without conviction and ordered she contribute $500 to charity.
He described her as a ‘superstar’ who had been ‘selfless’ and ‘giving’.
‘The old saying can be made: ‘You lay with dogs you get up with fleas’,’ he told Anderson. ‘It’s the product of a good heart. You thought you could help this bloke, but it turned out to be a lesson for you.’
