While Baby Archie’s name came as a surprise to many, it seems Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son isn’t the only member of the royal family to have caused a storm over their moniker.
A new report has revealed that the Queen did NOT approve of the original name chosen for Princess Beatrice, labelling it far too ‘yuppie.’
The Sun has claimed that when Bea was born in 1988, the Duke and Duchess of York had their hearts set on the name Annabel, but the Queen quickly vetoed it. Although it has not been confirmed, the report suggests the the monarch may have had the mayfair club Annabel’s in mind – a favourite haunt of Andrew and Fergie.
Instead, Her Majesty suggested the name Beatrice, which was also the name of Queen Victoria’s youngest child.
The Duke and Duchess of York waited an unusually long time to announce Beatrice’s name to the world – taking two weeks to make the name public. And now we know why!
