May 2024: Sophie Turner Speaks about Friendship with Taylor Swift
In May 2024, during an interview with Vogue, the British actress revealed a few more details of her friendship with Taylor, telling the publication she was a “hero” during the divorce process.
“Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year,” she shared. “I’ve never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me, and provided us with a home and a safe space.”
“She really has a heart of gold,” Sophie continued, before admitting she’s “always said that my girlfriends are the loves of my life.”
“The support I had from the women in my life during that time was the most amazing thing to see. I felt so held and so protected.”
September 2023: Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Divorce
Taylor made a not-so-subtle move alongside Sophie as they went out not once, but twice, following the divorce announcement.
On September 20 Sophie and Taylor grabbed dinner at New York City hotspot Via Carota, and were seen interlocking arms as they walked around the city.
On September 22, the pair were photographed once more leaving a restaurant in Tribeca.
Shortly after Taylor and Sophie’s night out, Sophie and Joe’s divorce reached a new level of messy, with news breaking on September 22 that Sophie was suing Joe.
The lawsuit, which was filed in New York, accused her ex-partner of not allowing their two young daughters to return to their “forever home” in Britain.
The pair allegedly had an agreement that Sophie (who had recently finished filming her latest project in the UK) would travel to New York to collect her daughters. However, when she arrived on September 17, the lawsuit claims Joe allegedly wouldn’t let the kids leave.
“The Father has prevented the children’s return to England, which is a breach of the Mother’s rights of custody under English law, England being the children’s habitual residence,” the suit says.
On October 1, Taylor and Sophie were once again spotted together enjoying a dinner in NYC. The pair were joined by Taylor’s close friend, Blake Lively.
A few days later it was revealed that Sophie was staying in a New York City home owned by Taylor amid her divorce after she was spotted leaving the residence.
August 12, 2023: Sophie Turner’s subtle tribute to Taylor Swift as she attends Jonas Brothers concert
Just weeks before the news of her divorce went public (which Sophie, herself, claims she didn’t know about), the British actress joined fellow Jonas Brother’s in-laws Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Jonas at the Jonas Brothers concert at Yankee Stadium.
Sophie proudly sported a number of friendship bracelets, including one that read ‘Mr. Perfectly Fine’ — a very obvious reference to the track Taylor Swift penned about Joe.
August 2022: Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner confirm they are Swifties
During a TikTok Live, the married couple answered fan questions – including one that asked what their favourite Taylor Swift album was.
“1989, hands down. The best,” Sophie replied. “Although, Reputation was inspired by, or partly inspired by, Sansa and Arya Stark. Did you know that?” she continued, referencing her Game of Thrones character.
“That’s pretty cool,” Joe replied. “And 1989 is a great album. Bangers. Bangers!”
July 2020: Taylor hints at her close friendship with Sophie and Joe
When Swifties first heard Taylor’s album Folklore, they jumped at the theory that a line in the song Invisible String was about her relationship with Sophie and Joe, who were expecting their first child at the time
“Cold was the steel of my axe to grind / For the boys who broke my heart / Now I send their babies presents,” Taylor sings.
In her film folklore: the long pond studio sessions (available on Disney+), Taylor confirmed that the line referred to something real that happened in her life.
“I remember I wrote it right after I sent an ex a baby gift… I was just like, ‘Man, life is great. This is a full signifier that life is great,’” she explained to her collaborator Aaron Dessner
August 16, 2019: Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift wear the same dress
When Sophie stepped out to attend Joe Jonas’ 30th birthday, she looked amazing – but fans felt Deja Vu. Why? Because the Alexandre Vauthier gown was previously worn by Taylor in 2016!
“I don’t remember who it was by, which is awful,” Sophie later told Elle UK. “But I know that Taylor Swift wore it before to an event and she looked much better in it than I did. But yeah. It was a proper dress-up night. It was a lot of fun.”
May 23, 2019: Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner appear on The Graham Norton Show together
Shortly after Sophie and Joe tied the knot, she and Taylor came face to face as appeared on The Graham Norton Show Together.
Though some fans initially thought it could have been awkward between the two, the women made it clear there was no bad blood and greeted each other with a hug.
“Hi buddy!” Taylor excitedly squealed as they ran towards each other.
July 2015: Hanging out after the 1989 concert
X-Men: Apocalypse producer, Simon Kinberg, shared a photo of himself and Taylor Swift hanging out with the film’s stars Sophie Turner and James McAvoy. And it sent the internet into meltdown.
Fans questioned if T-Swift would be making an appearance in one of the X-Men films, but it turns out she was just a fan.
