Ahead of the show’s premiere on MTV this Sunday November 10, we thought it was only fair that we bring you the low-down on everything you could possibly want to know about the musical twins.
Who are they?
The Veronicas are an Australian pop duo originally from Brisbane, the band is made up of identical twins twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, 34,who founded their group in 2004.
How did they become famous?
The twins have been performing since the age of five and first performed under the stage name The Origliasso Twins.
With the help of two friends, the Origliasso twins formed a band, Teal, and released “Baby It’s Over,” a single that marked the twins out as sought-after songwriters. Before launching their own pop career they wrote songs for Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan, Japanese pop singer Miz, and the Russian group t.A.T.u.
Soon after , the twins secured a recording contract with Warner Bros, and the rest is history.
Best hits
Their 2007 hit ‘Untouched’ is undoubtably what catapulted the twins into stardom. But since then, Jess and Lisa have launched hit singles such as ‘4ever’, ‘Everything I’m Not’, ‘Loilita’ and ‘Hook Me Up’.
Controversy
No decent pop star would be without their fair share of controversy, and The Veronicas are no exception.
After meeting in 2008, Jess had an on-again-off-again relationship with Ruby Rose for nearly a decade. However, in April 2018 after two years of officially dating, the couple confirmed they had called it quits.
With nasty rumours plaguing the duo for months, the model turned Orange Is The New Black actress took to Twitter to set the record straight.
While it was no secret their split was messy— with vicious rumours plaguing the pair for months before calling it quits— Ruby proved underlying issues still remained when Jess went public with her new partner, Kai Karlton. After sharing a photo of the couple, Ruby sarcastically commented: “Congratulations, so happy for you both.”
Jess quickly responded, writing: “@RubyRose I have requested you not contact me for over four months now. You have been given my grace of being ignored on every other private platform, so the fact you continue to ignore this to contact me here publicly under the guise of wishing me well, is continued harassment.”
In September this year, the sisters made headlines after getting chucked off a Qantas flight when they allegedly got into an altercation with cabin crew, and were asked to leave the flight via federal police.
