Julie, who made headlines in 2017 after becoming embroiled in Nine’s now infamous “jacketgate” scandal, announced the happy news via Instagram, sharing a sweet picture of the couple shortly after Hugo had proposed.
“Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a Fairy Tale,” a visibly emotional Julie penned alongside the photo, which gave fans a clear shot of her stunning diamond engagement ring.
The 31-year-old completed her caption with hashtags: “#Engaged #happytears #kneegotshaky #brokenhill #silvercity #hometowntour #gettingmarried.”
The couple, who met at a Sydney pub in 2016, are believed to have got engaged during a visit to Julie’s New South Wales hometown of Silverton this weekend.
Hugo is a Scottish-born Australian actor known for his roles in dramas such as Rake, Sea Patrol and Underbelly: The Golden Mile.
Meanwhile, Julie made headlines after footage showing Channel Nine newsreader Amber Sherlock berating her for wearing a white jacket went viral.
Amber was also wearing white and slammed Julie for wearing the same colour as her.
“I need Julie to put a jacket on because we’re all in white. I asked her before we came on… Julie you need to put a jacket on,” a frosty Amber told their producer.
When their segment went live, Julie could be seen wearing a black jacket over her white dress.
