It is very hard for us to keep calm when a brand new, never seen before photo of the Prince of England and his grandson has been released.
Prince Charles is the doting grandfather to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis… And soon to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s little one.
To celebrate his 70th birthday, he features in the BBC documentary Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, which features a photo with baby Louis!
The proud granddad, whose birthday falls on November 14, was snapped by Getty royal photographer Chris Jackson.
He is gazing adoringly at Kate and Prince William’s youngest child, as they stand in the garden of Clarence House.
The snap, taken in September, shows Baby Cambridge being held in his mother’s arms, giggling and cluthching his grandfather with his little hands.
British paper Daily Express were the first to run the snap on their cover.
Clearly loving the little ones, the documentary shows Charles in a new light showing him swinging his other grandchildren by their hands, in a cute moment of a garden party with his wife Duchess Camilla’s family.
Prince William spoke candidly about his dad admitting he wished he was able to spend more time with the children.
“I think he does have time for it, but I would like him to have more time with the children.”
“I think he’s… now he’s reached his 70th year it’s a perfect time to consolidate a little bit cause as most families would do, you are worried about having them around and making sure their health’s okay, and he’s the fittest man I know but equally I want him to be fit until he’s 95 you know going on.”
“So, having more time with him at home would be lovely, and being able to you know play around, err, with the grandchildren.”
“Cause when he’s there, he’s brilliant. But we need him there as much as possible.”
Prince Harry also spoke in the documentary, breaking his silence about his father’s reaction for stepping in for Thomas Markle when he was asked to walk Meghan Markle down the aisle on their wedding day.
As for his wife Duchess Camilla, she shared, “He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know making funny noises and laughing and my grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him.”
But the most heartwarming detail is that the Prince of Wales reads his little ones Harry Potter.
“He reads Harry Potter and he can do all the different voices and I think children really appreciate that.”
Prince Charles has previously opened up about being a granddad, saying: “It’s a different part of your life. The great thing is to encourage them. Show them things to take their interest.”
“My grandmother did that, she was wonderful.” He added: “It is very important to create a bond when they are very young.”
Outside of his Kate and Wills and soon Harry’s child – the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall have nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren between them; Camilla’s daughter Laura Lopes is mum to Eliza, ten, and eight-year-old twins Gus and Louis, and her son Tom has two children, Lola, 11, and Freddy, eight.
