Spooks Galore: 5 Scary Ghost Videos

Turn the lights off and get under the blankets before watching these videos.

Objectively, it’s a little bit weird that humans love all things creepy and paranormal. We’ve all chanted ‘bloody Mary’ in front of a mirror, played a Ouija board with our friends, or at least sat around and told spine-tingling tales at night.

We’re obsessed with haunted hotels, scary ghost stories, and horror movies – even if they cause sleepless nights and a bit of paranoia. So, to give you your spooky post-Halloween fix, we’ve compiled a list of the top REAL scary videos online – we’ve got petrifying clips, freaky forest creatures caught on tape, and spooky security footage.

We don’t have irrefutable proof that these are real ghosts caught on camera, but they’re pretty damn convincing…and terrifying.

Are Real Ghost Videos Popular?

Scary videos have been passed around since the medium has existed, but the internet has made them more accessible than ever. There are entire websites dedicated to hosting scary videos, including the now-defunct SFOGS site which featured exceptionally terrifying Japanese horror clips and videos from all around the world.

But with all of the well-produced horror films, why do people still turn to REAL ghost videos? Well, it’s most likely because movies are obviously scripted, so the ‘scares’ aren’t genuine. But with allegedly authentic videos, it makes us confront a horrifying truth: maybe ghosts do exist…and they live among us.

Two people head to a dark forest in Catalonia, Spain. They come across an emaciated humanoid creature. The silhouette appears to have featherless wings, which has led paranormal enthusiasts to dub it ‘the fallen angel’.

The Gettysburg Ghost

Scariest moment: 0:18

A phantom haunts the Triangular Field in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In the video, you can see a phantom or spectre appear…then suddenly disappear. What makes it even spookier is that the ghost appears over a chasm with a 10-foot drop, so it can’t possibly be a person just passing through.

The Lost Man Of The Paris Catacombs

Scariest moment: The entire video

Underneath the city of Paris are catacombs, or a network of underground burial sites filled with bones that have existed since the 5th century. An ‘urban spelunker’ went into the catacombs with his trusty camera. As he’s exploring the catacombs, he suddenly starts running and panicking, as if something (that you can’t see on camera) is chasing him. He runs deeper into the catacombs, getting lost in the process. Then, he drops the camera and his light source.

The video itself is more creepy than scary, but the story doesn’t end there. People actually found his camera, which is why we have the footage. But the mystery explorer was never found, and it seems like he disappeared without a trace. This video is all we have left of him.

The Toyol

Scariest moment: 0:42

Summary: A lot of cultures have some sort of demon baby creature in their mythologies, especially in Southeast Asia. The Philippines has the ‘tiyanak’, Cambodia has the ‘cohen kroh’, and Indonesia has the ‘toyol’. The toyol looks like an infant or toddler, but it’s actually an undead creature summoned by black magic shamans for malicious deeds.

In the video, a group of friends are just hanging out, playing guitar, and having a good time. Suddenly, a small creature enters the frame. Only the cameraman notices while the other two don’t seem to see it.

The Phantom Of Hampton Court

Scariest moment: 0:08

Hampton Court is a 15th-century palace in London, so you know that there are probably a few ghosts haunting its halls. Security footage actually caught a phantom-like creature (complete with a cloak) opening a fire door in an alleyway.

While this video shows only one potential ghost, Hampton Court is actually quite infamous for its hauntings. Henry VIII’s wives allegedly haunt the palace, and if you visit the castle, you might even see the ‘Grey Lady’.
