Sam Mac reveals the TRUTH about working with Sam Armytage and Kochie

The ‘Sunrise’ Weatherman says he’s already winning at day-to-day life.

Nominated for the Gold Logie, Sam ‘Mac’ McMillan says he can’t believe the voters pulled through and he’s happy to give up the shirt on his back and more to say thank you.

“I’ll strip, probably strip naked if I win … I do that already once a week on Sunrise!” he tells WHO.

Others he’s likely to thank are his morning show co-stars David Koch and Sam Armytage.

“Kochie and Sam have been really supportive, they actually launched my campaign, I didn’t plan to do anything. They said they wanted to nominate me and they encouraged our viewers to vote and it’s obviously worked!”

Asked about their on-and off-screen relationships, he says he’d like to spend more time with the hosts. “I love the team, I don’t see them very often because I’m always away, but they’re so supportive and I’m very happy there.”

Could the cheeky presenter win?

“I don’t think I’m going to win it. I’m flying the flag for Channel 7, though,” he says. So, who is he tipping? “I love Amanda, I think she’s just such a beautiful lady, she’s an amazing performer. I’d love to see her win it. They’re all great in their own way.”

Whether or not he wins, Mac reveals he’s pleased with the experiences he’s already had on TV.

“There’s a lot of interesting things happening in Australia and I get to see it every day. There’s something very powerful about being at people’s places or at their sports club, or whatever it is. It kind of breaks down the walls of TV.”

And he doesn’t take it for granted.

“I did 132 flights for work last year. I do a lot of driving, but I also get to experience things that a lot of people never get to do in their lives. Bucket list moments: I’ve been to Uluru three times, I’ve done the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb five times, I was in Japan two months ago, I’ll be in New Zealand and Canada later this year – so the life I live is just wild.”
