American actress Selma Blair, 50, brought the audience to tears this week with her amazing Viennese waltz on America’s Dancing With The Stars.
In the debut episode of the season, Selma alongside dance partner Sasha Farber earned 28 points from their amazing Viennese waltz to David Cook’s Time of my Life – and brought many people to tears in the process.
Selma, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018 brought judge Carrie Ann and fellow contestant Jordin Sparks to tears with her performance.
The Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions actress herself was also brought to tears as she received her score, telling the judges, “I’m so grateful, I’m so grateful.”
Selma joined a number of big names for season 30 of the celebrity dance competition, including TikTok star Charli D’Amelio and Drag Race star Shangela.
Selma Blair has been open about her diagnosis over the past five years, sharing on Instagram her daily battles with the disease.
During the Emmy’s earlier this month, she earned a standing ovation as she announced the winners of outstanding drama series.
“I am so, so honoured. Thank you” she told the crowds as she dazzled in an Alexander McQueen gown and walking stick.
Selma has become an advocate for actors with disabilities since her diagnosis, becoming a vocal supporter of inclusion and representation on-screen.
MS is a condition that affects the nerve connections between the body and the brain, affecting speech and mobility, and whilst Selma is currently in remission, the disease is incurable.
Throughout the past five years, the mum-of-one has shared insight into her treatment, including chemotherapy and stem-cell treatment.
Following her appearance at the Emmy’s, she took to Instagram to express her gratitude, writing, “when I was invited to present Outstanding Drama Series at the 74th Annual Emmy awards, my spirits rose exponentially.”
“I would be a part of this important Hollywood event, presenting the final award of the night. I never imagined I would walk across that stage and be given the truest gift for me. Love. Applause. Standing along with me.”
“I am basking in this moment. I thank you for having me. For embracing me. Humbled with gratitude. Congratulations to all of the nominees and the winners alike. You made the shows that got us through. I love you. 💛”
